Darren Camplin
Come check out the newest addition to the House of RTS family,
Darren Camplin !
I’ve loved and followed his art for many years! I first noticed his talent at one of the Whistler’s underground art show in 2007. These larger than life characters unraveling their tales over the course of three miniature canvas! They were vibrant in color, strong in lines and adventurous in the melting of graphic and sprayed background !
His new collection is simply his best work yet!
I would call it “Love GOO”
Maybe it has to do with him falling in love and getting hitched this summer!
Congrats you two!
This collection is filled with “love goo” characters, hearts, soft colored washed up inks, swirly bold signature lines on crispy white canvas background! It is simply brilliant and original!
Another thing I respect about Darren, is his pricing, his originals are totally affordable! He understands the market and gives us all our chance to own one of his original paintings!
So come on down to the price is right and get your paws on your true original Camplin works…before they are all gone!
This guy is definitely working his way to the top and getting great gigs and great exposure. He’s the branding artist for the Bike festival “Crankworks”, he is painting for the second year the RACE FACE boneyard walls, he painted live for Lululemon and had his art viewed live on CTV news during the Olympics. He has also participated in a multitude of shows and custom painted Whitegold snowboards, Etnies and Nike shoes.
And the list only continues!
So give it up for Darren Camplin ladies and Gentlemen!

A New Studio Opens up in Squamish
I think it is safe to say that Squamish is brewing an artist town!
Last night I attended the newest and coolest creative collaborative Studio Space in town! If you weren’t there, well you missed a gosh darn good time! The place was vibrating in energy and color!
It all started outside with the cool graffiti fence and the large colorful artwork in the entrance and upstairs hallway. A wonderful representation of what you were about to experience.
After squeezing myself threw this Art-full packed crowd I got to enter this wonderful creative world! I found the fabulous and sexy PEACOCK DESIGNS of Amber Butler, the nature’s recycled underground bird houses and art works of Stan Matwychuk of HOMEBASE STUDIOS, the grand scale earthy-tribal artwork of SAMERA GIBSON, the crispy classy webwork and space of the BLONDEBLONDE CREATIVE and finally the entrance to a private little nook of LAUREL TERLESKY’s electrifying and spiritual art works!
But ladies and gentlemen, the artistic love did not end there!
Not only do they have a large open space to work in with some Pollock inspired work in progress and paint staked shelves but they get a perfect view of the great big CHIEF on the not one but two beautiful decks that I got to personally see the moon come out to let me know it was time for me to go!
So wether you are going for art classes, art consultation or viewing, it is a fantastic place to simply hang out and get to know these wonderful creative creatures!
Congrats you guys on what you have created and Thank you for the great night !
The One
The best part about running a gallery is of course being surrounded by amazing art, day in day out! It’s even more fun after 3 months, because I get a whole new batch! There are pieces you get tired of and others you could stare at everyday and always see something new. I’ve always believed in the saying “You just know”. It’s the same for when you encounter a piece of art that you HAVE to have because,
It shakes the ground you walk on!
Here is mine!
It’s called I Never Meant to Hurt You. It was created by the one and only, Lani Maeglin Imre. I am sharing this image with the one’s that can not see it live but for anyone that lives in or will be visiting Squamish, you must go view this larger than life painting (and others) at the “uptown” Burrow. The exhibition will end in Sept.
It’s the Raw’ness of this image that first caught my eye. I almost felt like it was incomplete when in fact it was more than complete, one more stroke and everything could be ruined. The Red Riding hood jacket, the cracked tooth and the ever so changing background that ALWAYS comes alive to tell me a new tayle. I could go on forever about this piece but you don’t want to hear what I have to say. You have to listen to what she has to say, to you!
ENJOY!
IT’S ALIVE!
It’s been a long winter and summer is here…almost. We get glimpse of it once in a while, like this weekend. The farmer’s market was going off and the sun was feeding the blooming flowers. I think it’s a sure thing when I say that we are all coming out of hibernation!
Downtown Squamish is brewing!
A new bistro recently opened right next door to me “La Petite Burrow”, the second addition to The uptown Burrow. There you can drink a fabulous glass of wine, savour some cheeses and view the art work of Mandy Tsung.
”Believer”
Sorry this one is SOLD!
Mandy is all about capturing the “look” of the hidden world behind the windows of her subject’s souls. She also appreciates the texture and life in the history of a wooden surface. Working with the natural grain of the wood while finding the energy and composition of the moment.
Enjoy!
On another note, House of RTS recently switched up all the art in the gallery and welcomed 3 new awesome artists;
Mandy Tsung, Kristian Adam and Jeff Denomme.
Vancouver Art Show Tonight!
Tonight, June 11th- 7-11pm, one of our House of RTS family members Kristian Adam will be showing his new collection, ANIMALOPOLIS @ the Ayden gallery in Vancouver. This is a show not to be missed! Kristian will be in attendance as well as Mandy Tsung who is also another member of the House of RTS family. Mandy will also be showing some of her newest work alongside some collaborated work with Kristian.
See you there!

The Rise of the Underground!
Welcome, to the new addition,
House of RTS blog!!!
This is my first entry so I’m just going to jump right in, or else I’ll keep choking on the intro.
The gallery opened in November of 2009 after a long and challenging 3 months renovation of the space. House of RTS is the name. RTS =Arts. House of RTS is also named after the 1830’s “Salon des Refuses” in Paris. This was a gallery that showed the art works of the “un-approved” artists. Salon des refuses means….”house” of rejects! Funny enough, many of these artists became legends in the history of art.
And so here we are, 2010 and the new generation of “lowbrow” artists are rising up from the undergrounds! “Lowbrow” is the movement that will go down in the books but you might of also heard newbrow, underground, urban, graffiti-street art and young contemporary.
This Art movement started in the 70’s and has since exploded into a powerful cultural force. We have many to thank, such as Dali, Robert Williams, Mark Ryden, Banksy, Tim Burton and Dr. Seuss to name a few.
With that said, let’s get to it!
Come visit the gallery or just check in once in a while to see what’s the haps!
